HEAT TREATMENT
Heat treatment is a processing method through heating a metal material to a certain temperature, insulating it for a certain period of time, and then cooling the material to a normal temperature or lower at a certain rate. The purpose of this process is to improve the material structure and effectively increase the material performance. Heat treatment is commonly used to process metallic materials, especially steel. The heat treatment technology methods used include Normalizing, Annealing, Fire Tempering, Tempering and Surface Hardening.
Heat treatment technologies
Annealing is used to soften steel, adjusting the material’s crystal structure, eliminating internal stress, improving machinability and cold stamping. Depending on the purpose of use, annealing is divided into full annealing, spherical annealing, stress relief annealing, intermediate annealing, etc.
Normalizing is the process of smoothing the crystal grains in the material, returning the material to its normal state, and reducing stress inside the material after hot stamping and cold stamping processes.
Quenching is the process of quickly cooling steel after heat treatment at high temperatures to increase its hardness and durability. Based on cooling conditions, it is divided into oil quenching, water quenching, vacuum gas quenching, etc.
Tempering is the process of heating steel components to a certain temperature after hardening, then cooling it at the appropriate speed. The purpose of this is to adjust the hardness of the material, improve toughness and eliminate internal stress. This process can be divided into high-temperature, medium-temperature and low-temperature tempering. Tempering after surface hardening includes high-frequency quenching and carburizing for low-temperature tempering.
